2022 Food Rescue Workshop

The Food Rescue Partnership hosted its fourth Food Rescue Workshop on September 29, 2022 at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, IA.

More than 40 attendees made new connections and learned how food waste and reduction trends changed during the COVID pandemic, a local model for personalized healthy food pantry, and how to compost at home. All attendees received a food rescue resource kit which included the FRP’s Resource Guide on Food Rescue, food scrap container to compost at home, and SWAG.

A returning feature to Food Rescue Partnership event was the announcement of the Quad Cities Food Rescue Warrior and Member of the Year. Member of the Year highlighted NEST Cafe‘s efforts to Nourish Everyone Sustainable Together through a pay-what-you-can model for local sourced food, food donation, animal feed, and composting. Quad Citizens nominated four local individuals to be the 2022 Food Rescue Warrior. At the workshop, the FRP Board congratulated Phillip Pridemore from LINKS Breakfast & Lunch for his steps to cook and serve 85-95% local meats and produce, repurpose foods into other dishes, donate egg flats, shells, and produce peels to farmers for animal feed, and composting at home!
